About

Vision for Youth (V4Y) is a youth-focused and non-profit initiative registered under the Ministry of Social Welfare to empowering young people by removing the barriers that hinder them from achieving their dreams. Through interactive training, evidence-based advocacy, and impactful social campaigns, the project has reached thousands of youths across the Arusha.

Their activities include:

Behavior Change Communication

  • Healthy choices, and strong values
  • Delivers a comprehensive life skills curriculum
  • Reproductive health education and HIV/AIDS awareness
  • Positive relationship building (brotherhood and sisterhood)
  • Mental Health

Economic Resilience Activities

  • Financial Literacy Programs – Saving and budgeting
  • Avoiding debt traps Understanding income VS. expenses
  • Career Guidance & Mentorship Programs
  • Match youth with professionals and local entrepreneurs.
  • Provide exposure to various career paths, including vocational and informal sectors.
  • Entrepreneurship & Business Skills Training

Youth Active Citizenship in Decision-Making Structure

  • Youth Leadership Forums
  • Youth Councils / Parliaments
  • Policy Dialogue Workshops

Child Protection

Please note that you will be required to sign ICYE’s policy Care to Engage on Safeguarding Children.

Volunteer Tasks

  • Participate in school outreach activities
  • Support resource mobilization and fundraising team
  • Assist administrative work i.e. coordination, finance, writings
  • Facilitate workshop training and staff skill development
  • Participate in manual work i.e. construction and renovation
  • Assist social media and content creation

Volunteer Requirements

  • Have skills or experience in one of these fields: report writing, resource mobilisation, proposal writing, financial literacy
  • Public speaking and sharing knowledge with local youth
  • Knowledge in computer and digital market
  • Understanding and speaking in English
  • Passionate about youth and community development

Location

The project is located in Sinoni, 8323 Arusha. Sinoni is a densely populated and culturally rich ward in Arusha. It offers a blend of residential life, local comforts, and community-driven experiences. It’s well-connected by rivers and uniquely organised into several neighbourhoods. It’s educational and health infrastructures are growing, making it an evolving urban community.

Accommodation

Volunteers will share a room with another volunteer, though private rooms are sometimes available depending on availability. It is located 5 – 7 km from the project, surrounded by lush greenery and natural vegetation. Volunteer can take public transport from/to the project.
