Brief description and main aims

This project operates in a space that was previously part of the Alvear Psychiatric Emergency Hospital. In 2015, the Warnes Assisted Residence for Psychosocial Rehabilitation was opened, which belongs to the Mental Health Directorate under the Ministry of Health of the City Government.
In the same space, the Tierra Salud project operates, which offers a proposal for both patients or individuals under treatment to develop their skills, receive training in crop management, food production, and gardening, but also in  commercialization, linking therapeutic work with environmental and land-based activities.

Main Activities

•  Work together with beneficiaries of the project maintaining the vegetable garden.
• Producing organic food
• Garden workshops and activities related to the agriculture process

Volunteer tasks

• Collaborating with community members: volunteers actively work alongside the beneficiaries of the project, who are often local residents, to care for and maintain the vegetable garden. This teamwork helps foster a sense of community while promoting collaboration and shared responsibility in the agricultural activities.
• Weeding, watering, and soil care: Volunteers assist in the daily maintenance of the garden, such as watering plants, removing weeds, and ensuring that the soil remains fertile and healthy for optimal plant growth.
• Harvesting crops: Volunteers assist in harvesting vegetables and other crops when they are ready for collection. They carefully select and gather produce, ensuring it is done at the right time to maintain quality.
• Conducting educational workshops: Volunteers participate in organizing and leading garden workshops that educate both community members and other volunteers about agricultural techniques, organic farming practices, and sustainable food production

Volunteer requirements / Skills

• It is necessary to be open to community social work.
• Basic Spanish level
• Interest in environmental and health issues
• Willingness to do manual work, focused on gardening  and maintenance task

Paternal, Buenos Aires.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Volunteers are received in a hostel, located in Buenos Aires.
