About
The free school Swiss-Mura is a boys boarding school that provides an alternative education to students with various difficlties. The phrase “free school” is used in Japan to describe an “alternative school.” The surroundings of the school are rich in nature, and offer unique educational experiences to the students who live together. The motto of the project is “Work well, Eat well, Sleep-well.
Swiss Mura offers a lot of additional activities on top of the public curriculum, for example to going fishing, playing music, supporting with harvesting, taking care of animals, building, running a cafe.

Hiroshima, Japan
Accommodation
Volunteers will stay in the dormitory of this school. They will sleep in the accommodation provided and will have access to a bath, a kitchen and a washing machine.
Volunteer Tasks
Volunteers will be living with the students and helping them to manage their every day life. You will assist the teachers in the English classes, and with any other classes you would like to. Volunteers also take part in the outdoor activities, and some agricltural work with the students.
Volunteer Requirements
Only male volunteers are excepted in Swiss Mura. They are asked to bring something from their own country and culture to initiative discussions with the students, such as a map, photos, songs, plays and recipes. The students are all of different ages and developmental stages, and so it is requested that volunteers take this in to consideration in regards to what they bring.
Please note that video games are prohibited, since some students are addicted to those. Volunteers can use internet on a shared PC with other staff. Wifi and phone connection is not very good in the area.
