About

The Sensorium is an interactive museum that enables visitors to rediscover their five senses in a playful and experiential way. Through hands-on stations and interactive exhibits, the museum promotes learning through direct sensory experience and encourages curiosity, awareness and creativity for visitors of all ages. The Sensorium offers a wide range of interactive stations focusing on touch, balance, sound, optical illusions and other sensory experiences. Visitors explore the exhibition individually or in groups such as families and school classes. The museum team ensures a welcoming atmosphere and supports visitors in understanding and engaging with the installations.

 

Location

Rüttihubelbad is a cultural and leisure site located in the rural area of Walkringen in the Canton of Bern. The museum attracts visitors from the wider Bern region and is particularly popular with families and school groups, especially on weekends, during holidays and on rainy days. The surrounding area offers a peaceful natural environment.

 

Volunteer Tasks

The volunteer supports the museum team mainly in visitor care. Tasks include welcoming and assisting visitors, answering simple questions, explaining how to use interactive stations, supervising the exhibition to ensure safety and cleanness, resetting simple installations and reporting technical issues. The volunteer may also assist school groups together with staff and help with small supportive tasks such as preparing materials or assisting in the shop/café area if needed.

Volunteer Requirements

The volunteer must have a B1 level of German and knowledge in French is an asset. Required age is between 20 and 35 years old. They should be flexible, reliable, friendly and open-minded. Enjoy working with visitors of all ages, especially children and families. An interest in museums, education and interactive learning is appreciated, as well as the ability to take initiative.

Accommodation

The volunteer stays either in a host family or a shared apartment.
