About
One of Mexico’s greatest challenges is poverty; millions of children find themselves in an unacceptable situation without opportunities to develop healthily or access their rights. Without support, those who grow up in these conditions can seldom break out of this vicious circle. Most likely, they will repeat the same patterns of violence as adults with their own families.
JUCONI seeks and provides personalized support to vulnerable children and families trapped in toxic cycles of family violence and chronic poverty.
Project Activities
JUCONI works with 350 children and their families every year, through 3 programmes:
- Programme for children living on the streets, and their families.
- Programme for children working in the streets, and their families.
- Programme for children working in the markets, and their families.
JUCONI coordinates with parents, siblings, teachers, neighbours, employers and other stakeholders in order to attain, and more importantly, sustain the transition of children from exclusion to inclusion. The holistic approach assures permanent success in 4 key areas:
- Academic achievement: The project grants access to education.
- Positive social relationships: The project creates abilities to foster and maintain positive bonds with peers, neighbors, and authority figures.
- Economic opportunities (14 years and older): The project creates and promotes the abilities and values necessary to succeed in the formal workforce.
- Family: The project fosters positive, violence-free communication within families.
