About the Project

The Jardín botánico de Quito is an entity whose main mission is to conserve and educate about the Andean flora, through the exhibition of plants, the most regular or common activities are the maintenance of the collections and green spaces.

The project is responsible for taking actions to consolidate a culture of respect for the natural environment in the Andean Region, contributing to the defense and protection of the environment through scientific research for the Andean flora.

Location

El Jardin is located in downtown Quito, inside Carolina Park. It is one of the areas with the easiest access to restaurants, hospitals, transportation and facilities.

Volunteer Tasks

The volunteer will mainly participate in the maintenance of collections of orchids, carnivorous plants, cacti, succulents, tropical plants and native plants. They will be responsible for planting, reseeding, propagation, watering, cleaning, pruning, fertilization. Their role will be to assist and learn about these processes, getting to know the species and acquiring long-term skills.

Volunteer Requirements

In general, because of the type of work, volunteers from 19 to 27 years of age are required. They must be in good health and, above all, be willing to get dirty and do outdoor activities.
