About
Iwakuni Kawashimo Kindergarden provides childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years old. Taking into consideration the children’s age-appropriate growth stages, the independence of the children is valued. Volunteers will support the teachers and staff caring for the children.

Iwakuni City is known for the prefecture’s most prominent mountains, clear streams, beautiful seas, world-class history and culture. The seaside area has developed as an industrial city, and after the construction of Iwakuni Airfield, the U.S. military base Iwakuni Air Base was established after the war, and the city has become a base town.

Volunteer tasks
- Watch and support children
- Assist children with their play and activities.
- Providing a safe and secure environment for the children.
- Support for educational activities
- Introduction of simple English and other languages.
- Support for activities such as songs, games, crafts, etc.
- Support for daily activities like preparing meals and cleaning up.
- Assist with meal and snack preparation and clean-up.
- Assistance the smaller children with going to the bathroom.
- Event Support: Assistance with special events such as field trips and
sports events.
- Assistance with seasonal events (Christmas, Dolls’ Festival, etc.).
- Daily communication with children and staff.
- Interaction to deepen cross-cultural understanding.
- Environmental Maintenance: Cleaning of classrooms and yard.
- Other tasks as assigned by the staff.
Volunteer Requirements
International volunteers are expected to provide an international perspective to the children while learning about Japanese education and culture. Flexibility and a positive attitude are also often required.
