About the Project

AmaZOOnico has become one of the biggest animal rescue centers in Ecuador. One of amaZOOnico’s strengths is that the team is made of a mix of the traditional knowledge and wisdom of local people and a vast array of perspectives and experiences brought by people coming from all around the world.

They rehabilitate and reintroduce wild animals, who were victims of illegal trafficking, back into their natural habitats, to take care of those who can’t be released, and carry out educational activities with visitors.

The project has 5 hectares where they work. To get there it is necessary to take a bus that takes 1 hour and a half, then the volunteers take a canoe that takes another 10 minutes to get to AmaZoonico

Volunteer Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate responsibility, a positive and hardworking attitude, and the ability to live cooperatively with several people. No professional training in animal care is required, though a genuine interest in learning and contributing to the team is essential.
