Fundacion SES is an Argentine Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which, since 1999, works for the educational, economic, labour and social inclusion of youth in Argentina and around Latin America and the Caribbean. We believe in the power of civic cooperation and solidarity. Therefore, SES articulates its programs and projects together with local grassroots organisations. Fundación SES, through its Subir al Sur volunteer programme, is also a member of the international networks ICYE and CCIVS, working in collaboration both globally and locally.
Subir al Sur (SAS) is the SES intercultural volunteer programme that fosters youth participation and intercultural learning as a way to promote peace and social justice. The programme’s mission is to promote intercultural education processes for peace through solidarity-based encounters between young people from cultural diversity.
SAS promotes the social, political, and community organisation of today’s youth from a critical and reflective standpoint on their living conditions and development as citizens not only of their communities, but also of the world. We seek to expand their realities, promote new experiences and be part of social change.
Subir al Sur/ ICYE Argentina, works together with diverse social projects focused on community and social inclusion, health, biodiversity conservation, art, and education. Thanks to strong alliances with local partners, we succeeded in engaging young people and consolidate valuable learning processes for volunteers, the community, and the programme.
Argentina is a vast and diverse country in South America, shaped by a rich mix of Indigenous, Asian, African, European and Latin American influences. With around 46 million people, it is known for its cultural diversity, strong social movements, and vibrant sense of identity. From tropical landscapes in the north to glaciers in Patagonia, its geography and climate are incredibly varied.
The country is a Federal Presidential Republic with an established democratic tradition since 1983, where politics and social debates are part of everyday life and public conversation. Argentina has played a leading role in the region in advancing human rights and gender equality laws.
Argentina’s culture is deeply social and expressive—family gatherings, shared meals, music, football, and long conversations are at the heart of daily life. Influences from migration and local traditions blend into a unique cultural identity reflected in language, food, art, and activism. Visiting Argentina means experiencing a country full of contrasts, creativity, challenges, and a strong spirit of community.
