Short-term programmes

A short-term exchange programme with ICYE is a full experience of solidarity, social justice, and global citizenship, where you can take meaningful action, have fun, and meet friends from around the world. Our projects provide full immersion in the daily lives of diverse communities and offer the chance to learn directly from different cultures, customs, and traditions while contributing to social and climate justice..

How do I apply?

To find out more about our short-term volunteering opportunities, including project details, costs, and other participation conditions, please contact the ICYE office in your home country. They will provide you with the guidance on available opportunities, application procedures, and support throughout your volunteering experience.

For how long can I volunteer?

ICYE short-term projects run between 4 and 16 weeks, available throughout the year, offering flexible opportunities to engage in meaningful volunteer work and intercultural exchange.

How old do I have to be?

Placements are open to anyone aged 18 and above, with no upper age limit. We welcome all young people and adults motivated to contribute, learn, and grow in solidarity with communities worldwide.

Where will I live or eat?

Most of the volunteers live with local host families selected by ICYE staff in the host country, providing an authentic opportunity to immerse yourself in daily life and culture. Some placements are in residential projects or shared flats with other international volunteers. Meals are usually provided: breakfast and dinner by the host family and lunch by the volunteering placement.
