About

The Argentine Library for the Blind (BAC) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1924 and managed by people with visual impairments. It promotes inclusion through cultural, educational, and recreational activities for people with and without disabilities. The library houses over 2,400 Braille volumes and approximately 1,400 audiobooks, and offers workshops, yoga classes, cultural events, language activities, and community outings, fostering accessibility and participation.

Accommodation

The volunteers stay at the Subir al Sur Volunteer House.

Volunteer Tasks

• The volunteer will assist with the organization and delivery of cultural and educational activities, including welcoming visitors, providing guidance within the library, and supporting participants.
• The volunteer may accompany library users, upon request, to complete personal errands or administrative procedures outside the library.
• The volunteer will provide administrative support, including researching information, preparing spreadsheets and documents, entering data, and organizing files and records.
• The volunteer will accompany participants on monthly outings to places of cultural or public interest, assisting with mobility, describing the surroundings, and helping make the experience accessible and enjoyable.
• The volunteer will assist blind users with online procedures and web-based services, helping them navigate digital accessibility barriers.
• The volunteer will assist with social media management and communication and outreach activities.
• The volunteer is encouraged to propose activities or initiatives based on their particular skills, profession, or area of expertise. The implementation of these proposals will depend on the organization’s needs and available resources
