About the Project
Hogar Mercedes, a project under the Archbishopric of Sucre, provides care and protection for vulnerable individuals. It specifically accommodates seniors who have left their homes due to a lack of support and care from relatives, or those who have been abandoned.
The home offers assistance with daily activities and medical care for its residents. It has a capacity to house 40 people. The project also involves supporting the staff who work in the home, providing care for the residents, and organizing various activities such as gymnastics, music, entertainment, and games.

Volunteer Tasks
Helping elderly people with their personal activities, organizing activities such as entertainment and games, practicing exercises with them, taking walks outside the home and accompanying older people when they visit the doctor.
Accompanying the elderly people and engaging in conversations as part of occupational therapy.
Volunteer Requirements
- Patience, maturity, empathy, sensitivity but being strong enough to resist and have control of the situation.
- Recommended if the Volunteer can be a professional or internship in psychology, pedagogy or another health area.
- Experience of working in education and the ability to be initiative are also important.
- Open-minded and motivated to work with elderly people.
- Intermediate or advanced level of Spanish is advisable.
