About the Project
This organization champions the empowerment, participation, and rights of sexual minorities. Its project areas encompass minorities, the LGBT community, and human rights, with a focus on providing assistance to the gay, lesbian, and trans community in La Paz and other regions. The initiative aims to foster societal change through various actions, including organizing workshops on sexually transmitted infections, self-esteem, and gay/lesbian rights.
The organization produces informative materials, publishes a bulletin, and utilizes social media to publicize its activities. It delivers speeches in schools and universities about sexuality and homophobia, and engages with local government officials and public bodies on issues of sexual orientation. A confidential helpline is available for individuals seeking support or clarification regarding sexual relations. As of December 2012, the organization was working on legal proposals concerning gender identity and same-sex marriage with the CDC. They also operate Café Vox, a weekday venue featuring a library of books, magazines, and videos, and organize annual events for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, a gay pride event in June/July, and periodic conferences with other LGBT organizations.
