Casa de la Mujer - Adole Isis (ECU-55)

Brief description and main aims

The project has two main aims:
1. It is a center for pregnant adolescents and mothers from 11 to 18 years old who left their home because of high risk of violence (abuse, sexual abuse etc.)
2. The center works in schools on issues dealing with sexual sicknesses prevention

Main Activities

The project runs 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The adolescents have daily routines from personal hygiene and psychological processes (individually with the family and the group), to scholar and recreational activities including medical and legal support, etc.

Volunteer tasks

Help with the daily activities (educational, medical and recreational) of the adolescents.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers should:
  • be a women aged between 19-25 years old
  • have basic proficiency in the Spanish language
  • have an interest in working with at-risk youth
  • have the strength and desire to work with some difficult cases
The volunteer is expected to comply with and adapt to the standards, rules, and routines of the center. 

Location

The center is located in the north of Quito, in the Cotocollao neighborhood.

 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
