Sports and Physical Education at Kpalimé and Agou (TGO-14)

Brief description and main aims
This project aims to support and stimulate the participation of young people of Kpalimé in physical education and sport activities of different kinds. |
Main ActivitiesThe main activities of this project revolve around organizing, preparing and carrying out, together with the teachers, sports and physical education classes. The volunteers will help the teachers to keep order during the activities, prepare students for physical exercises, supervise them when they bring out sports’ equipment. |
Volunteer tasksThe volunteer teaches sport to the students from 7.00 to 9.45 am, and 03.00 to 05.00 or 06.00 pm. He maintains working atmosphere until the end of his session and keep order and discipline during this period. Some research and documentation is also required. For example, the volunteer prepares a log-book for each student: outline the different stages of the courses, record the date, punctuality, attitudes, and techniques applied.
The volunteer verifies the attendance of the students and takes care of the warm up exercises and carries out discussion/evaluation with the students at the end. After every activity, an assessment is organized by the volunteer in order to appreciate the performances of the students and assess themselves too. The volunteer beckons the marks and the average is put on the school report.
The volunteer invites the students to collective games, such as football, volleyball, basketball, handball and organizes competitions between classes.

Volunteer requirements / Skills
To serve in the project effectively, the volunteer must be efficient and patient. The volunteer should have a strong interest in working with young boys and girls and possibly have previous experience in sport and physical education.
Good knowledge of French is required. As this type of work is emotionally and physically demanding, the volunteer must have a strong personality and a positive outlook. In addition, it is important that the volunteer is open-minded, responsible, flexible, sportive, confidential, creative and takes initiative.

This project is located in the colleges of the suburbs of Kpalimé.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The volunteer will be living with a host family. |
