Brief description and main aims

The project aims to:
  • Give care and protection to abandoned babies
  • Provide a home for those children who are physically and sexually abuse
  • Provide a home for children whose parents are incarcerated and have been referred to Imani by the court system  
     

Main Activities

  •  General care for babies
  •  Preparation of meals and feeding the children
  •  Small scale farming at Imani Ngong Special unit

Volunteer tasks

  • The volunteer will have an opportunity to learn how to prepare meals for the babies and take care of them
  • The ongoing task of the volunteer is to feed, clean, and play with the babies
  • At this project we welcome new ideas that would benefit the project

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • Basic English language skills are required
  • Open minded, self-reliant, flexible and tolerant
  • Able to work with children with a difficult background

Location

The project is located in Soweto Estate in Nairobi, 6km out of the city centre. The community of Soweto belongs to low income and low middle class income areas from.
 
Ngong is a town near the Ngong Hills along the Great Rift Valley, located in the southwest of Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The Ngong Hills, from the west-side slopes, overlook the Great Rift Valley dropping over 4,000 feet below, where nomadic Maasai villages have been developed.
