Brief description and main aims

The project is a primary school started by community members to help build the community through improving the education services. The project has 800 children and 32 teaching staff members, plus 20 non-teaching staff members.

Main Activities

Some of the main activities include: 

• Teaching
• Computer training
• Drawing, writing and reading
• Music dance and drama
• Planting trees and flowers
• Playing with children
• Organizing competitions, games and sports

Volunteer tasks

Some of the volunteers' main tasks include: 

• Teaching English
• Computer training
• Reading, writing and drawing with the children 
• Playing with the children

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:

• Be a female
• Be at least 23 years old
• Be able to communicate in English
• Love teaching (they won’t be teaching but working with other teachers)
• Love working with children and also being with them

Location

The school is located in Gayaza trading center Wakiso district, 15km from Kampala.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Volunteers will stay with a host family and sometimes volunteers may share a room with someone in the family.
