Brief description and main aims

Based on the concept of well-rounded education, we hope that students are not only taught academic knowledge but also humanities. Living in 21st century global village, we also hope that our students can broaden their international horizons and have more opportunities to interact with foreigners. This allows them to become enriched, while becoming self-disciplined, caring, moral, skilled, responsible and well-balanced international citizens.

Cultural Exposure

Yanhang Junior High School is located in Yongkang District, Tainan City. The living facilities around the school are quite convenient. It takes about five minutes by riding a bicycle to reach Sancun Night Market.

There are many famous historical attractions near our school, such as the ruins of the air-raid shelter during the Japanese occupation period, the ruins of the Sankandian Shrine, the temple culture of Baoling Temple, and the Jianggongti Monument, etc.

The school is located in the city center. There are Guitian Restaurant and other well-known restaurants around. There are many delicacies for international volunteers to explore and taste.

If you would like to visit other cities, the nearest public transportation is Yongkang Railway Station. There is a bus stop near my school, so you can also take a bus to any other places on the weekend. There is an intercity bus stop near my school as well. You can take it to other places easily if you want.

Volunteer tasks

• To assist teachers in the English conversation classes.
• To assist teachers in the bilingual classes.
• To assist YHJH to hold activities to let students know more about the world.
• To introduce the volunteer’s country and the culture of it.

• Being enthusiastic, passionate, and outgoing.
• English listening, speaking, reading and writing ability is a must.
• Like to get along with students.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

We offer a house with two single rooms. There are many fruit trees and vegetables planted around the house. It is a quiet place and the house is about 1 kilometer from the downtown area and about 800 meters from the school.

We offer two bicycles, so each volunteer will be assigned a bike.
