Brief description and main aims

The aims of the project: To increase the students’ opportunities to use English in daily life and to expose the students to different cultures. The regular activitties:

1. Organizing cultural activities.

2. Providing workshops such as Art & Craft, Music, Dance forms, Drama, etc

3. Help the teachers for other activities during working hours.

4. Telling stories.

Target group: 1st graders~6th graders. The number of students in each class is from 2 to 6. Most activities will be hold in a classroom.

Cultural Exposure

Nanhua District, located in the easternmost of Tainan City, is the largest area, least population density district in Tainan City. Most of the territory of Nanhua District is mountainous and most of the residents live by growing fruits. It takes 90 minutes to take a bus to Tainan City where to Kaohsiung city is around 45km and 317km to Taipei City. The public transportation system from Tainan city to Kaohsiung or Taipei city connection is good, one can easily take a bus, the train or the high speed rail to any other cities in Taiwan.

Volunteer tasks

• The volunteer will co-teach with a teacher 2-4 classes/per day.
• Introduceing German or European culture, art, landscape, geography, etc, increasing student’s international vision.
• Speaking English with the students, let the students have more chance to use English.
• Participating the school activities.
• If the volunteer has any specific skills, the school will arrange the class or the club for the volunteer and the students.
• If the volunteer has free class in the school, he/she can prepare the lesson in the office.

• Under28, female, speak English 

Location

The project is situated in Nanhua District, located in the easternmost of Tainan City.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live in a host family which is a student’s home. He/she will have his/her own room.
