Brief description and main aims

Yamaguchi prefecture is located in the most west side of the main island of Japan and Hagi city is one of the main cities of Yamaguchi prefecture.  Many important figures from Hagi city played essential roles in the movement to build the modern Japanese society. The town is surrounded by beautiful nature and preserves the historical buildings.  Koen Gakuin is located in the center of Hagi city.

Koen Gakuin is a private Christian School(Catholic)and was established in 1955.  This is a name taken from Bible “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world”. The school is small in size, with about 240 students (junior high and high school).  They focus on religious field and English teaching.

Assistant teacher in the English class working in school activities, especially in time of international activities.  Club activities after school if interested.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers need to be actively involved in communications with the students and teaches to encourage them to be interested in their culture.
It is important for volunteers to share things they like and have interests with.

Location

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Individual room at the female dormitory accompanied with around 10 female students. Breakfast and dinner included. Volunteers commute to school by bicycle.
