Warau kado no kai (JAP-28)

Type: Environmental/Green Projects: Environmental awareness raising - Country: Japan

Brief description and main aims

There are many mountains and hot springs in Yamaguchi prefecture. It is open to the sea and one of the safest places in terms of natural disasters. This is the place where the traditional culture and modern movement of Japan coexist and people live with dignity and a warm heart.

There is a Japanese proverb saying “warau kado niwa huku ga kitaru (joy comes at the corner of smiles).” We are the volunteer group to practice this way of living by co-learning and share experiences regarding with various topics. Now Japan has some problems such as environmental pollutions, the high rate of mental illness, and aging society with fewer children. Nevertheless, some people aim to change their lives into truly happy lives going through such social problems, which remind us of "wazawai tenjite huku tonasu (turn the potential disaster to one's advantage)". Through our volunteer activites based on our slogans, we try to make a better society for everyone living in this world.
