Brief description and main aims

The main mission of the project is to offer the orphans and vulnerable children between the ages of 2-18 basic human needs, i.e food, clothing and shelter. This involves giving the children a balanced diet, ensuring that they have clean and weather compliant clothing and housing them in children friendly rooms. Secondarily, we offer them learning in local kindergarten, primary and secondary school.

Main Activities

Cooking, cleaning, farm activities, helping in after school activities or homework supervision. 

Volunteer tasks

  • Teaching any subject that the volunteer is skilled in
  • Participation in co-curricular activities like music, drama and sports

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • Be able to communicate in English
  • Be ready to interact with children between the ages of 2 and 18

Location

The local community comprises people from the Samburu and Turkana tribes who are primarily herdsmen or pastoralists. They mostly live in makeshift huts and keep on moving with availability of pasture for their livestock with a few exceptions that live in permanent structures and have small businesses or formal jobs in the town.
