Brief description and main aims

The Barangay is in need of support to the delivery of their social development services. They aim to address the basic needs of the most vulnerable groups in their community to improve their socio-economic conditions and promote sustainable development.

Main Activities

• Support child development / day care through primary learning opportunities
• Develop livelihood opportunities to youth and women
• Protection and management of marine sanctuary and the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary
• Assist other relevant social development activities of the barangay

Volunteer tasks

• Assist in community service activities
• Support in the development of website, social media and other advocacy materials and tools to promote the programs and projects of the organization
• Assist with marine sanctuary protection and development
• Assist the Disaster Risk Reduction Management initiative of the Barangay
• Extended support to the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary programs and activities

Volunteer requirements / Skills

• Knowledgeable and computer skilled individual
• Proficient English teaching skills
• Can adjust to different types of work and work situations
• Contributes to creative community development ideas

Location

The project is located in Olango Island, Lapu-lapu City.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family (expect to have a shared room with your host sister or brother).
