MUA develops, manages and carries out cultural and artistic proposals, coordinating activities of promotion, training, education and research through exhibitions, artwork, expo-sales of art and craftwork, fairs and competitions, conferences, meetings, workshops, among others. MUA offers art and culture training to the general audience, to educators and artists.
MUA has an education programme called EDUCA, a platform of cultural and artistic projects & programmes coordinated by the staff of MUA and with the support of Voluntariado Cultural EDUCA, a group of youth volunteers, aged 18-35. Some examples of these cultural and artistic projects & programmes are:
The programme EDUCAR a través del Arte, which works with 2,000+ children from public schools based in the historic centre of Tegucigalpa, carrying out creative art workshops, visits of artists, visits to art exhibitions and guided tours to get to know Tegucigalpa’s heritage.
The project CREARTE, which works with 5,000+ children and teenagers, with the aim of preventing violence and irregular migration, carrying out paint workshops, workshop and exhibition of postcards, shadow theatre, artistic interventions, and participations of dance groups and drum circles.
MUA is part of the Red de Promotores Culturales de Latinoamérica y el Caribe
, a network of organisations that generates and promotes a joint workspace for producers in the areas of contemporary dance, theatre and music in Latin America and the Caribbean, carrying out exchanges and artist-in-residence programmes.
MUA is an organisation with a multidisciplinary approach, carrying out different types of projects, some that are constant and others that vary from year to year, and the volunteer can support any of these projects.
The volunteer will be trained on different non-formal education based methods and activities in order to replicate art and education workshops in schools, high schools and organisations that benefit from MUA’s projects & programmes. The volunteer will also be trained on how to support with the logistical aspects of activities carried out within the main headquarters of MUA, which is also a cultural centre, and in other venues.
The volunteer’s schedule will mainly be from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m./16:00.
The volunteer will mainly be part of the group of the Voluntariado Cultural EDUCA, supporting all the different projects & programmes carried out within the framework of the education programme EDUCA, designing, planning & organising, facilitating and evaluating different workshops and artistic actions in general for children and youth.
The volunteer will also support the various activities that MUA carries out within and outside the cultural centre, such as art exhibitions, artwork, expo-sales of art and craftwork, fairs and competitions, conferences, meetings, workshops, among others.
The volunteer can also support in office-related tasks, such as checking organisational emails, filing, organising logistics for different activities, among others.
