Brief description and main aims

Mundo Libre provides a safe environment and place for children and teenagers that have been living on the streets or come from violent environments. One of the main aims is to give back the dignity and values that the children lost while living in the streets, through the consequences of drugs, sex exploitation, violence, etc, so they can re-integrate to society. 
 

Main Activities

Mundo Libre offers spaces with psycologic therapy, academic workshops, health assistance and spirituality spaces. The project hosts over 40 children, girls and boys,  aged between 9 and 17 years old.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteers will have to assist in the different areas (health, administrative, social work). Volunteers will receive training and according to their skills will be assigned to a specific area. With time the volunteer will get more responsabilities based on their involvement in the activities and children realities.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:
  • be at least18 years old
  • have some experience working with children
  • have Spanish knowledge (intermediate)
Artistic skills are desiderable.

Location

Pachacamac, Lima - Peru
The project is located in an rural area, located in the south east of Lima. It is 1 hour away from the center, almost one hour bus trip.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live in the project.
