Brief description and main aims

Fundación CEPPA (Center for Peace Studies) is a non-governmental organization, established in 1988.  It emerged as a foundation with the objective to create a culture of peace. Their mission is to offer a renewed and updated education which creates and fosters a better understanding of peace and its consolidation in order to respond to the deepest and most urgent needs of society.

Main Activities

CEPPA provides the training of professionals with a solid, civic and humanistic education and contributes to the development of  tools that foster commitment to democracy, gender equity, social justice, inclusion and human rights.

CEPPA has programs focussed on: creative response to conflicts and alternative solutions to violence.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteers have the chance to work with adults, professors, prisoners (workshops in jails; always supervise by a staff member) and students.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers should be interested in social fields, have interpersonal abilities and be open to work with group dynamics.

Location

The project is located in Barrio Escalante, San José.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
