TENKI-MURA (JAP-18)

Brief description and main aimsTENKIMURA is established in 1987 by one local junior high school teacher to improve the situation that local children were in.
This organization has many programs (children's day care for 3-5 years old, after school program for disable youth and some community activities). It organizes events related to environmental issues for children, aiming to create a better local community for children and offer support to parents.
Their slogan is “The earth is a playground!”

Main ActivitiesLots of local people are involved in the events as supporters. TENKI-MURA provides children with the opportunity to explore the nature, and hopefully, the event will stay in their minds as a precious memory for the rest of their lives. |
Volunteer tasks
The volunteer will also assist with the summer camp program with local elementary school (6 to 12 years old).

Volunteer should:
Japanese language skills would be helpful for communication with kids.

LocationKusatsu, SHIGA. This city is the second biggest city in Shiga prefecture, 20 min to Kyoto (old capital of Japan) by train. The project is located in relatively urban area. |
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)Volunteers will be accommodated at the project. The project will provide a lunchbox on weekdays so the volunteers are responsible for cooking breakfast and dinner for themselves. |
