Brief description and main aims

Uganda Wildlife Eduaction Center is a center where wildlife education is combined with leisure. Formerly, it was called the Entebbe Zoo. It offers fun and exciting activities for corporates, families, schools or individuals in addition to hands-on experience with animals.

Volunteer tasks

Main activities of the center and volunteers' tasks include:
  • Rescue and rehabilitation of sick animals
  • Food preparation and feeding animals
  • Hands-on care for captive and injured wildlife
  • Captive breeding of endangered wildlife species
  • Entertainment through education for children
  • Help organize entertainment activities for the public in the zoo

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer needs to be at least 18 years old and we have special clothes that need to be worn at the project and a number of vaccines are required. 

Location

The centre is located on the edge of Lake Victoria with rich vegetation, wide range of birds, butterflies and other indigenous animals. It is located 36 kilometres from Kampala and just 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer lives with a host family 1 hour away from the project by taxi. Sometimes, when there is a lot of traffic it might take one and half hours.

More Information

Kindly note that there is an fee of $300 for a month and $50 for an extra added week that will be paid directly to UWEC.
