Brief description and main aims

Centro de Estudio y Trabajo de la Mujer (CETM) is a non-profit organization founded on February 15,1986.  When it first started its work was done thourgh various print media organizations and thourgh grassroots support in urban areas. Later (1990) they started carrying out its activities in rural areas of our city and now they work in communities in the municipalities of Sacaba Tacopaya Arbieto.

The aims of the Centro de Estudio y Trabajo de la Mujer (CETM) are to:

  • Help improve the quality of education through the formal qualification of pedagogical practice and guidance to develop attitudes, values and knowledge to eliminate discrimination and gender stereotypes and considered needs and interests of children.
  • Raise awareness and promote holistic health from a bio-psychosocial approach to social, education and training, ecology and infrastructure, food sovereignty and citizenship, under the cross-gender equity and environment.
  • Provide technical training to improve additional income to the household economy.

Main Activities

CETM's main activities include:

  • supporting integrated development in areas related to comprehensive health, education and training, ecology and infrastructure , food sovereignty and citizenship, under the cross-gender equity and environment
  • improving the quality of education 
  • providing health education
  • developing comprehensive a community through the Center for Knowledge Exchange and Apprenticeship and cultural activities

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer can:

  • work in the Learning Resource Center: library, telecenter, games room, school support, auditorium
  • work at cultural & educational fairs 

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should have good Spanish skills and not be afraid of bugs. Some background in education in necessary.

Location

The project is located in Cochabamba.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
