Brief description and main aimsInstituto Psicopedagógico “Juana Leclerc” is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation that takes care of children, youth and adults with mental disabilities and with learning difficulties. It offers a comprehensive assistance through diverse community strategies with specialised programmes for children and youth with mental disabilities, providing centre-based education, as well as community-based rehabilitation programmes. |
Main ActivitiesThere are special programmes consisting in the development of the students’ skills and dexterities towards achieving their personal, social and work independence, hence improving their quality of life. All of the programmes of the organisation are divided into three categories:

Volunteer tasksThe volunteer can support any of the existing programmes, and if she/he has music and/or sports skills, workshops can be organised and carried out with the children and youth. The volunteer could support:

High school to university education especially on special education is highly appreciated

LocationThe project is located in Tegucigalpa, Francisco Morazán. |
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The volunteer will live with a host family. |
More Information
The project is available to start in February every year for 6-12 months.
