| Brief description and main aims | |
At Danish nursing homes, live elderly people who cannot fully take care of themselves. Here trained personal and helpers take care of the residents, in order for them to have a good and worthy life, even though they are not able to cook, clean, bathe or in general take care of a household themselves. | |
| Main Activities | |
The main activities at a nursing home are to help the residents cope with everyday life, and make sure they are not neglected in relation to food, personal hygiene and social activities. | |
| Volunteer tasks | |
At a nursing home the tasks of the volunteer is to hep with the everyday routines at the home. That means taking part in the personal hygiene of the residents; bathing, washing, combing their hair and getting them dressed. The volunteer will also take part in other activities at the home, such as choir/singing, playing cards, going for a walk or helping at meal times. | |
| Volunteer requirements / Skills | |
To work in a nursing home it is important that the volunteer:
Is aware, that personal hygiene and close contact with the residents are part of his/her tasks. | |
| Hosting Situation (Board & Lodging) | |
The volunteer will live with a host family that will provide board and lodge. | |

When a host family is found we will make arrangements with a nursing home in the nearby area.
