The Sunbird Environmental Awareness Centre is located in the scenic Silvermine River Valley within the Silvermine Section of the Table Mountain National Park.
The Centre is based at the renovated stone homestead built by Barend Nicolas Petrus van der Poll on the farm ‘’Klein Silvermyn” in 1904. The original farm named after the silver prospecting sites in the area.

The Centre may be hired by schools, youth groups, clubs, churches and environmental groups and any other groups for camps, workshops, seminars and meetings.
The TMNP can provide a staff member to present an activity on request and at an additional cost. These may take the form of audio-visual presentations, nature trails, environmental rehabilitation projects or adventure activities.

Volunteers can assist with the following programs that aim to:
- Enhance environmental awareness.
- Develop entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Develop leadership and / or skills.
- Promote spiritual consciousness.
- Support outcomes based education.
- Conduct other projects inside the Park.

The volunteer will live in the accommodation provided at the project.
