| Brief description and main aims | |
Olimpiadas Especiales Honduras (Special Olympics Honduras) belongs to the international network of Special Olympics International. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide sport training and athletic competition throughout the year in a variety of sports of olympic style, to all the people of eight years of age and older that have an intellectual and/or physical disability, giving continuous opportunities to develop a physical aptitude, to demonstrate value, to experience joy and to participate an interchange of gifts, skills and companionship, with its families, other athletes of the project and the community in general. | |
| Main Activities | |
Olimpiadas Especiales Honduras offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition. There is no charge to participate in the project. | |
| Volunteer tasks | |
Mainly the volunteer will be an assistant to a sport educator. IMPORTANT: Many of the tasks that the volunteer will perform take place in open spaces where you can find yourself exposed to the sun. For this reason, it’s very important thatthe volunteer does not have any skin problems or allergies to sun exposure. | |
