Olimpiadas Especiales Honduras (Special Olympics Honduras) belongs to the international network of Special Olympics International. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide sport training and athletic competition throughout the year in a variety of sports of olympic style, to all the people of eight years of age and older that have an intellectual and/or physical disability, giving continuous opportunities to develop a physical aptitude, to demonstrate value, to experience joy and to participate an interchange of gifts, skills and companionship, with its families, other athletes of the project and the community in general.

Olimpiadas Especiales Honduras offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition. There is no charge to participate in the project.
Olimpiadas Especiales Honduras has been working for over 20 years and is at the moment present in 15 departments of the country, although the main office is located in the capital city.

Mainly the volunteer will be an assistant to a sport educator.
The volunteer would be training the "special athletes". It could be in different sports such as: aquatics, athletics, basketball, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, and floor hockey.

IMPORTANT: Many of the tasks that the volunteer will perform take place in open spaces where you can find yourself exposed to the sun. For this reason, it’s very important thatthe volunteer does not have any skin problems or allergies to sun exposure.

Age: Older than 18.
Gender: Indifferent.
Languages: Basic knowledge in Spanish is very preferable, in order to communicate and teach the children.
Studies: None in particular, though experience and/or knowledge in sports is preferable. The volunteer must really like sports since he/she will pass all his/her days around them.
Abilities and Attitudes: Practice any sport, dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible, and willing to work with disabled children/youth. The volunteer must like the sun because a lot of the activities are outdoors.
Religion: Indifferent.
