Brief description and main aims

Jukumu Letu Organization (JLO) started in 2007 with an aim of reaching out to pre-school orphans and vulnerable children from Mathare slum in Ngong. The primary objective of the centre is to provide a safe and secure location for young children to be cared for while their care-giver or older siblings attend school or work.

  • Feeding the children
  • Home visits

Volunteer tasks

Assist in teaching in the nursery school and general care of the children e.g. feeding, playing games with the children.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • Ability to work with children and mothers
  • Should be able to communicate in English
  • Willing to learn

Location

The project is locate in rural-urban area on the outskirts of Nairobi, close to the Mathare slum.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Living with a host family.
