Brief description and main aims

Hogar Mallorca/ Hogar Misky Wasi seeks improve the life conditions of street working children in Sucre city by reducing the marginalization and poverty situation they face.

Currently the foundation supports 80 hard working boys and 40 girls between the ages of 7 to 18.

Main Activities

The foundation has 2 orphanages (one for boys and one for girls) where they offer housing, pedagogic support, individualized medical and nutritional care, vocational training to facilitate the integration of children into the labor market in the future. Extra-curricular activities such as computer or music are given to complement their formal education and specific workshops (eg. health, hygiene, human rights, equality between men and women, environment):

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expected to:
  • Support children and adolescents with their school activities and provide  reinforcement in some educational areas (English, mathematics, physics, and chemistry)
  • Carry out recreational and leisure activities (sports, handcrafts, games)
  • Develop specific workshops with children and adolescents

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should be older  than 20 years old and it is preferable if the volunteer has studied education, health, or  music and can carry out recreational activities.

Location

The project is located in Sucre.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
