Samara Public Non-profit Organization for Disabled People "Parus Nadezhdy" was established in 2001. It is affiliated to Samara Regional Public Organization of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled.
The mission is to provide integration of the disabled children of Samara region into society and to promote the ideas of independent life philosophy and social approach to disability.
The main goals are to protect the rights and interests of disabled children, to provide disabled children with equal opportunities to participate in all spheres of social life and to integrate disabled people into society.
The projects main activities are:
providing disabled children and their families with social and psychological support
organizing and conducting conferences, seminars and lectures on the problems facing the disabled children,
cooperating with other public organizations dealing with similar problems
revealing children’s creative and intellectual abilities
The volunteer is expected to :
participate in general activities of Samara Public Organisation for Disabled People "Parus Nadezhdy";
communicate with disabled children at the centre or at home two times a week, providing them with moral support and physical assistance.
work with children which may include reading, drama, sports, etc. thus revealing their creative abilities.
implement a club for children with the aim to teach them about the history, culture, customs and traditions of the volunteer´s native country
Volunteer requirements / Skills
The volunteer should:
be between 18-30 years old
have a strong motivation and desire to work with disabled children
Basic knowledge of Russian language is welcomed.
The project is located in Samara.
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)
Volunteer will either live in a host family, or in rented apartments shared with other international volunteers.
