Brief description and main aims

A project seeking to addres s hunger and undernourishment of children in the region, Nutrir works with the aim to develop programs of complementary and nutritional education: “If there is bread, there is peace”.

Development of practices and strategies that allow supporting children in conditions of vulnerability, providing them breakfast and lunch, and consequently achieve a better nutrition and better life conditions. They possess 12 soup kitchens distributed over the whole city of Manizales and 19 in the surroundings: Villamaria, Chinchiná, Quibdó, and Choco.

Main Activities

Some of the project's main activities include:
organizing workshops about nutritional education e.g. events like Semana Nutrir and Vidaton
preparing and distributing meals: breakfast and lunch
organizing language courses
offer recreational activities (handicraft, games etc.)

Volunteer tasks

Support in English or French classes for kids between 4 and 5 years in the morning
Support in physical activities and sports in the afternoon
Support with the organization of events regarding the promotion of nutritional issues, e.g. the “Nutrir Week”

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:

have patience
be willing to help
know some English and/or French

No gender is given a preference.

Important: You need to be proactive, motivated to work with children, and full of ideas. Understanding the internal dynamics of the organization and background of children you will be working with.

Carrera 19 No 72ª-18, Manizales - Caldas.

Manizales is the capital of the Colombian department of Caldas. It constitutes the main center for the production of Colombian coffee and has about 400.000 inhabitants.
