Brief description and main aims

KiyumbaKimu Children Village provides a natural and stable environment for all children aged between 5 to 18 years old. It provides children, in destitute living situations, a permanent home.  It is an orphanage that takes care of homeless, abandoned and orphaned children. It now has a small kindergarten school for toddlers whereas the rest of the children go to schools located nearby.

Volunteer tasks

Some of the volunteer's tasks include:
  • Offering educational activities, e.g. reading, writing, ICT
  • Community outreach program and visits
  • Gardening and farming
  • Carrying out games and activities
  • Developing good living conditions at the center
  • Cooking and serving food to the children
  • Improving children's hygiene
The project is very much involved in agriculture both subsistence farming and commercial, but on a small scale, so we are open to agricultural ideas.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should be between 18-30 years old. 

Location

The project is located in Kiyumbakimu Village, Lwengo District in the rural areas of south/east Uganda and 160km from Kampala.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live at the project.
