Brief description and main aims

Yangcheon YMCA was founded in 1999 and belongs to Seoul YMCA. It is a physical education and teaching center for all Yangcheon's community - individuals from 4 to 80 years old can participate.

It aims to create a healthy environment for children where they  enjoy learning.

Main Activities

Multi-faceted courses like

  • swimming
  • painting
  • gymnastics
  • pottery
  • computers
  • English conversation
  • outdoor exercises
  • many more activities.

Volunteer tasks

Work as a co-assistance in the classes, helping on day-to-day tasks and all kinds of activities.
To teach children some games, sing songs, story telling.
Working hours: about 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday).

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • The volunteer should be active, creative, patient and interested in working with children.
  • The volunteer must be open-minded, social, patient, creative and willing to learn Korean  quickly.
  • Have some knowledge of English.
  • Female bewteen 22 - 27 years old.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The Volunteer will live in the YMCA Hotel (with a roommate).
