Brief description and main aims

This Welfare Center entrusted by Seoul YMCA is operating from 1994 with the purpose of preventing and fixing the community problems, creating a healthy culture of community and raising self support ability of the low-income group based on the historical tradition of Seoul YMCA Welfare project.

The Welfare Center aims to support the low-income group and maintain their livelihood, create a healthy culture for children and youth, develop leisure activities for the seniors, incorporate the handicapped to society, develop unity and cooperation of community residents, strengthen the solidarity of the community and improve the welfare for residents through the professional programs. This center is performing as the Total welfare Center by their programs.

Main Activities

Assisting disabled students participate in the activities.
Taking care of senior citizens.
Taking care of physically disabled people.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer, with professional staff support,needs to teach English in her/his classes.
The volunteer’s personal creativity can help in making his/her job more enjoyable.
The volunteer needs to do a delivery service for the seniors who live on their own.
Working hours: about 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday).

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer must be interested in working with mentally and physically disabled children and young adults.
Must be open-minded, social, patient, creative and willing to learn the Korean language quickly.
Volunteers must be able to work on their own initiative and be self motivated with the ability to motivate others.
Volunteer must bee between 18-27 years old.
