"Cultural Diversity, Indigenous People and Social Inclusion EVS project in EU and Latin American Countries -  15 long-term volunteer placements in 5 EU and  8 Latin American countries -  Austria, Belgium, Italy, Finland, Spain, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay - Between January and July 2010 / Duration 6 months - Organisers: ICYE International Office in cooperation with partner organizations in above mentioned countries With very few opportunities of upward social mobility particularly minorities and indigenous groups in Latin America are often socially and culturally excluded. In this context inclusion is more and more a question of respecting cultural differences and overcoming social and economic structural barriers. Against this background the EU and LATIN AMERICA EVS Project on Cultural Diversity, Indigenous People and Social Inclusion aims at actively promoting volunteer engagement in cultural, social and non formal learning activities targeting particularly vulnerable groups.The project fosters mutual understanding of young people in different countries. Most of the host organisations chosen for this project are providing support to children and young people with less opportunities / in need. The participation of international volunteers will be an added value for the daily lifes of the children and staff in the local host organisations and will foster intercultural awareness and dialogue.
