FORO JUVENIL (FJ), founded in 1982, is a non-profit organisation
enhacing social development through the promotion, research, advocacy,
and training on issues related to adolescence and youth, at national and
regional level. Its mission is to contribute to the creation and
consolidation of equitable conditions promoting the full development and
participation of young people in society. FJ aims to work with young
people, particularly the disadvantaged ones, and with distinct public
and private institutions working with youth. FJ has a team of 50 staff
running a series of programmes reaching out to young vulnerable women;
rural youth; and disadvantaged youth of three poor neighborhoods of
Montevideo. It also runs vocational training and exchange programmes
promoting youth mobility, domestic and international voluntary service.
FORO JUVENIL started its cooperation with the ICYE Federation in late
2007 to exchange long-term volunteers to enhance the mutual
understanding, cooperation and solidarity between Uruguay and ICYE
Committees worldwide.
