FORO JUVENIL (FJ), founded in 1982, is a non-profit organisation enhacing social development through the promotion, research, advocacy, and training on issues related to adolescence and youth, at national and regional level. Its mission is to contribute to the creation and consolidation of equitable conditions promoting the full development and participation of young people in society. FJ aims to work with young people, particularly the disadvantaged ones, and with distinct public and private institutions working with youth. FJ has a team of 50 staff running a series of programmes reaching out to young vulnerable women; rural youth; and disadvantaged youth of three poor neighborhoods of Montevideo. It also runs vocational training and exchange programmes promoting youth mobility, domestic and international voluntary service.

FORO JUVENIL started its cooperation with the ICYE Federation in late 2007 to exchange long-term volunteers to enhance the mutual understanding, cooperation and solidarity between Uruguay and ICYE Committees worldwide.
