| organisation |
ICYE Switzerland was founded in 1960. In 1986 it changed its name to "International Cultural Youth Exchange". Its 200 members are mostly former exchangees, plus other volunteers. There are three regional committees corresponding to the main language areas of the country. The national office, with four part-time staff, is in Bern. |

| placement |
Host families and few live-in situations with service agencies. Most host placements are in small towns and rural areas, seldom in cities. |
| programme |
Participants aged 18-30 will be volunteers working with children, disabled or elderly, in farming and with NGOs active in solidarity work with developing countries. |
| conf./seminars |
Autumn evaluation camp.. Ski week-ends during the year (at exchangees' own expenses). Spring week-end on a specific issue. Work camp and final evaluation camp by the end of the exchange year. |
