The National Committee was founded in 1959 as an independent organisation. After having supported by Tokyo YMCA, as of April, 2002 ICYE Japan is an independent, registered non-profit organization. It is made up of returnees and full-time staff. The office is located at Azabu Juban in Tokyo. |

Host families. A few residential voluntary service projects. |
| programme |
Participants aged 16 to 18 will be offered the possibility to study at a Japanese high school.
Older participants will be involved in voluntary service in work
placements dealing with the disabled, the elderly, environmental or agricultural projects, kindergartens, alternative schools, community service, peace associations, youth organisations etc.

Orientation Conference for two weeks after arrival, Mid year conference 6 months after arrival and Final Evaluation conference. Informal evaluations of work and host placements once every three months. |
